While historically known as a diesel generator specialist, the company is currently undergoing a significant strategic pivot towards renewable energy (solar) to adapt to Zimbabwe’s changing energy landscape.

Diesel Power Generation
Powermec is best known as the Official Distributor of Perkins Engines in Zimbabwe. This exclusivity is their primary competitive advantage in the generator market.
- Perkins Engines: They supply genuine Perkins engines, which are the industry standard for durability in Zimbabwe’s mining and farming sectors.5
- Generator Sets: They distribute diesel generators powered by Perkins engines.6 These range from small residential units to massive industrial sets used to run mines and factories.
- After-Sales Support: Because they are the official distributor, they are the primary source for genuine Perkins spare parts and certified technical maintenance (service hours), which is critical for warranty preservation.
Solar & Renewable Energy
Recognizing the high cost of diesel and frequent power cuts, Powermec has expanded into large-scale solar.
- Focus Area: Unlike small residential installers, Powermec targets “heavy” solar solutions—specifically systems exceeding 100kW. These are designed to power irrigation systems for farmers and processing plants for mines, often integrating with their diesel generators for a hybrid solution.
